Sir Francis Jacobs, "Towards a European Constitution?"
In this seminar, Francis will address some current issues of EU law, especially constitutional issues, and how they relate to the problems facing the European Union -- with an emphasis on the role of the EU Court of Justice.
The Rt Hon Sir Francis Jacobs QC is Professor of Law, Jean Monnet Professor, and President of the Centre of European Law at King’s College London. From 1988 to 2006 he served as Advocate General at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. He currently advises on European law and aspects of international law. He was the first president of the European Law Institute (2011-2013) and is a member of its Senate. His books include “The Sovereignty of Law: the European Way” (Hamlyn lectures, Cambridge University Press 2007).
