The Grass Can Be Greener: Sharing the Cost of the Climate

Seminars

Old Government Building lecture theatre 1

A well-designed tax system is a powerful tool to protect our environment and support our people. New Zealand’s current system is not getting us there. Kiwis experience high economic inequality and it is harming our well-being. We need to repair our public services and our welfare system and change our economy so that it runs fairer, cleaner and greener. A better tax system can help.

But to get the most from tax, we need to talk about it. In the second event in this series, Russell Norman, Richard Wagstaff and Catherine Leining will discuss how taxes can help us shift towards a carbon-neutral economy where our people and our planet flourish.

Speakers

Russell Norman, Greenpeace Aotearoa Executive Director– tax and climate breakdown
Richard Wagstaff, CTU President – just transitions
Catherine Leining, Motu Policy Fellow – the ETS and revenue recycling
