Dr David Bromell

With a research focus on applied political theory, David draws on political philosophy to help make sense of current hard cases.

He aims to develop theory that works in practice in our New Zealand context, and since 2012 has co-taught with Prof. Jonathan Boston a course on Politics, Philosophy and Public Policy in the Master of Public Policy programme.

David has begun work on a new book on managing pluralism in public policy. In it, he will argue that public policy goes better when we refrain from asserting ‘rights’ and instead negotiate ‘interests’ through collaborative governing for the future.
