Dr Kathy Holloway, Director of the Graduate School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, has been reappointed as a Council Member for the Nursing Council of New Zealand by the Minister of Health.

Kathy was first appointed in 2015 and the reappointment will see her serve a further three years for the Nursing Council–New Zealand’s regulatory authority responsible for the registration and regulation of nurses.

Kathy is a registered nurse and completed her doctorate in 2011. She says that sitting on the Nursing Council provides her with the opportunity to offer a discipline and leadership view to the mandate of the council.

“It is an honour and a privilege to be able to serve on this committee with colleagues from the profession and the public coming together to enable nursing excellence and protect public safety.”

Professor Gregor Coster, Dean of Victoria University of Wellington’s Faculty of Health says, “We are delighted to hear that Dr Kathy Holloway has been reappointed to the Nursing Council. She is an excellent role model and leader and will make a valuable contribution to the nursing profession.”

Kathy is the current co-Chair of the Board and Fellow of the College of Nurses Aotearoa and was a member of the Ministry of Health expert advisory group for the 2015 review and update of the New Zealand Health Strategy. She is the Associate Dean (Academic, Equity and Students) for the Faculty of Health.
