Study overseas

Studying in the Wellington Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences can take you around the world.

Exchanges

Wellington Global Exchange is a student exchange programme offering you the opportunity to broaden your horizons while studying towards your degree. As a Wellington Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences student, you will have the opportunity to study in more than 90 partner universities across Europe, Asia, North America, Latin America, Australia and the South Pacific.

You can attend an institution overseas and study for credit towards your degree while still paying normal Victoria University of Wellington fees. Students who have completed the minimum Wellington International Leadership Programme requirements before they go on the Wellington Global Exchange programme may be eligible for a WILP grant.

The School of Languages and Cultures also offers two 20-point Language Study Abroad courses where you can spend the summer trimester studying Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish at our partner universities overseas.

Field trips and study tours

The Faculty offers a selection of field trips and study tours that can be credited to a BA or BA(Hons) degree.

Greek field trip

The Greek field trip is offered by the Classics programme every two years over the summer trimester. Based in and around Athens and Crete, it offers an interactive study of Greek archaeological sites. The course is taught as CLAS 320/420 and is limited to 20 students.
