Suspending your study

As a period of suspension may have implications for your study visa make sure you’re aware of the regulations.

As an international student, you are limited by Immigration New Zealand regulations and suspending your doctoral registration will have implications for your student visa.

You may be able to suspend your study for up to three months within a 12-month period, up to a total of 12 months during your candidature. Suspending your study in order to take up paid employment is not considered a valid reason for a suspension. See the suspensions page for more information on when it may be appropriate to apply for a suspension.

If you are a Masters student please be aware that there is no provision for international students to suspend their studies.
