Xiamen University visit

Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Architecture hosted a delegation from Xiamen University in China this week to explore future collaborations between the two institutions.

The Xiamen delegation, including Vice Dean Yuxia Huang and Assistant Dean (Foreign Affairs) Leon Liangliang Wang from Xiamen University, met with Victoria’s Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design Professor Marc Aurel Schnabel and other staff from the School of Architecture.

The group discussed the programmes offered by each university, comparing the content of courses to see the potential pathways for Victoria and Xiamen University students, as well as discussing the possibility of a joint design studio at the new international Xiamen University campus in Malaysia. .

Professor Schnabel says his relationship with the Dean of Architecture at Xiamen University Professor Wang Shaosen has been instrumental for the collaboration agreements between Xiamen University and Victoria.

“The visit from Xiamen University was very exciting for our Faculty, and we are now looking forward to strengthening our engagement with Xiamen. It is a wonderful relationship that will benefit staff and students working in architecture in Wellington and China.”
