Victoria Abroad

What is Victoria Abroad?

Victoria Abroad is a student exchange programme offering you the opportunity to broaden your horizons while studying towards your Victoria University degree. Why wait until after you've finished your degree to travel? Victoria Abroad is geared toward undergraduate study, but there are also postgraduate and MBA opportunities at some of our partner institutions.

  • Study and travel overseas AND earn credit towards your VUW.
  • Complete part of your degree overseas, while paying your normal Victoria tuition fees
  • Receive StudyLink while on exchange
  • We will even help you pay for it! All exchange students receive a one-time grant of $1000 to help finance their trip.

Where can I go?

Victoria Abroad has more than 140 partner universities stretching across five continents, giving you the opportunity to study in some of the world's most prestigious educational institutes. Through Victoria Abroad you could be studying anywhere from Argentina, Hong Kong, Mexico or Ireland to Canada, Spain, Denmark, or France, and many places in between.

Over half of our exchange partners teach in English. For the others, you'll need to have appropriate proficiency in the host country's teaching language - the exchange may provide a great opportunity to increase your fluency in a second language (you will see any language requirements noted on this website).

Although Victoria Abroad is perfect for those of you studying internationally focused degrees, it is relevant for all fields of study! Check out where you could be studying for your degree by searching our Exchange Destinations tab to discover where in the world you could be completing part of your degree!

Not only that, but it is also a life-changing and unforgettable experience that students never regret!

This is the one chance you will have to travel and study at the same time without paying host institutions fees (you pay Victoria tuition) and actually participate in a foreign culture instead of simply hopping between backpackers. Selbi, The University of Texas at Austin, USA

"The exchange was an intense learning experience, nothing is like setting up in a new, foreign country and making your own way in it. I made incredible friendships and have fallen in love with South America."
Hannah, Pontificia Universidad Catolica, Argentina

"My exchange experience was absolutely phenomenal. It feels strange trying to express it in writing because the emotions you feel are so indescribable. I met so many fantastic people from around the world and have made life-long friends because of it. My Japanese proficiency and understanding improved so much and I was able to live and learn another culture and experience first-hand what I had been learning in the classroom."
