The Speakership is an interesting and varied role which presents many unique challenges. Trevor Mallard will discuss his experience with the role so far including key responsibilities. He will also talk about some recent changes at Parliament he has made and the reasons for these changes.

Rt Hon Trevor Mallard is the 30th Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives. He has served as a Member of Parliament for 30 years, since 1984. He has been a whip and a Minister, including Education and State Services, Sport, State Owned Enterprises and Associate Finance. Trevor Mallard is a graduate (BCA) of Victoria University along with Wellington Teachers' College and the University of Waikato.
