Glaciers and ice sheets in a changing climate

The Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington, Professor Grant Guilford, invites you to a public lecture by Professor of Earth and Climate Sciences, Andrew Mackintosh

Lectures, talks and seminars

Registration is essential

Council Chamber, Level 2, Hunter Building, Gate 2, Kelburn Parade

Description

Ice sheets and glaciers are currently undergoing exceptional changes, causing sea-level rise and affecting water and food security for millions of people. However, in many cases, and particularly in Antarctica, we do not know whether these changes are unprecedented, and to what degree humans are responsible. Predicting future glacier and ice-sheet behaviour also remains a major challenge.

Join Professor Andrew Mackintosh, director of Victoria University of Wellington’s Antarctic Research Centre, as he explains how recent breakthroughs are helping us answer questions about past, present and future glacier and ice-sheet response to climate change.
