Description

Fourth year students of architecture, landscape and interior architecture at Victoria University of Wellington have found new ways to think of home, by developing designs through a single sense.

Apparently insignificant sensory events in the home, such the smell of burning toast, the touch of a door handle, or the taste of toothpaste—its sharpness gradually diminishing as you brush—provided ways to reimagine home.

The work in this show is the result of forty such design experiments, each distilling a sensory event through a series of models. The aesthetic results of this work is collected into a book exhibited in the gallery space, accompanied by nine of the final models. Home showcases the new thinking on home, through a focus on its sensory and spatial possibilities.
