Computational Media Innovation Centre
Victoria's Computational Media Innovation Centre (CMIC) was one of the first three recipients of funding from the Government’s Entrepreneurial Universities initiative.
This initiative aims to attract world-leading entrepreneurial academics to New Zealand in order to foster cutting-edge research and university-led innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Centre’s research will focus on leading future digital media technologies including, but not limited to, virtual and augmented reality, computer graphics and vision, and artificial intelligence.
We aim to grow talented researchers and entrepreneurs who will lead future media technologies and businesses in a global market.
CMIC focuses on building an entrepreneurial research pipeline to perform industry-motivated research, providing state-of-the-art solutions for computational media, link academic research with industrial contributions, grow future entrepreneurs, and incubate potential start-ups.
Robinson Research Institute
The multidisciplinary Robinson Research Institute melds innovative engineering and applied physics to build advanced technologies for businesses worldwide. They are world-renowned in high temperature superconducting research and its applications.
The Robinson Research Institute at Victoria University of Wellington was formed in January 2014, and joined the Faculty of Engineering in June 2017.
School of Engineering and Computer Science
The Faculty supports the internationally recognised research conducted in the School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Research groups and individual academic staff provide links to major projects, publications and resources, including code banks, benchmark problems and data repositories.
Masters and PhD students contribute significantly to our research in all fields and enable the exploration of fascinating and world-leading projects. This research is regularly presented at international conferences and published in leading academic journals.
Many of our postgraduate degrees are funded through links with industry and scholarships through our research contracts. These opportunities are advertised on our scholarships web page when appropriate.
