The Wellington Faculty of Engineering is affiliated with a wide range of professional organisations.
We also have affiliations with various other professional and charitable groups and value our partnerships with sponsors who provide grants and scholarships.
Engineering New Zealand
Engineering New Zealand is a non-profit membership organisation that represents engineering in all its forms and promotes the integrity and interests of our members, the profession, and the industry.
Student membership is free, as is the first year for engineering grads who enter the industry through until October 1 each year. Our student members enjoy many benefits including access to industry leaders through regional networking events, site visits and can apply for scholarships and enter industry student awards.

Student Engineers of New Zealand
Student Engineers of New Zealand (SENZ) is an initiative by Engineering New Zealand to formalise student engagement throughout New Zealand. Together with students from other national universities, such as Auckland and Canterbury, students at Victoria University of Wellington are helping to facilitate industry to student interactions.
The Victoria University of Wellington researchers were awarded a grant to organise and host the inaugural SENZ event in Wellington in 2009.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest professional association and is dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence to benefit humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
The New Zealand Central Section of the IEEE provides expertise, scholarships, support and opportunity for our engineering degrees.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia–Pacific.
The IET provides a global knowledge network to allow ideas to be exchanged and promotes science, engineering and technology worldwide.
A recent example of an IET organised event was a student visit to the New Zealand Navy ship, HMNZ Canterbury to explore large scale engineering practice.
