Share your expertise

Share your skills and expertise—come in and talk to students about your career, or find out how to become a mentor.

Careers in Focus talks

The University runs several Careers in Focus events each year where presenters come and talk to students about their personal career path, answer questions, and network with students. Consider sharing your career experiences and expertise to help students, and raise your organisation's profile at the same time.

Mentoring

Consider the rewarding experience of mentoring a student.

The University can match you with a student and you’ll meet with them to provide career-focused advice and guidance, and share your professional experience. Some of your meetings could take place online. Time commitments will vary, but you might give around 12 hours of your time over a few months to a mentoring arrangement.

Many people find mentoring to be a personally valuable experience—helping them improve their own communication skills and to network and make connections with potential staff members. Your employer might consider making mentoring part of your individual professional development.

If you’d like to talk to someone to see if mentoring is right for you, contact Careers and Employment.

Our alumni can join the Alumni as Mentors Programme.

Victoria Plus

Victoria Plus is an extracurricular service and leadership development programme that aims to cultivate social responsibility through civic engagement. Students complete the programme by attending personal and professional development workshops and doing volunteer work.

You can connect with the Victoria Plus programme by delivering a workshop to students on your organisation’s approach to corporate social responsibility, sustainability, or other area that will help develop civic-mindedness in students.
