Postgraduate scholarships

Victoria University offers a range of scholarships for postgraduate study. Scholarships of particular interest to students in the School of Engineering and Computer Science are listed below.

Victoria PhD Scholarships and Doctoral Scholarships

Application for these scholarships is made as part of the application for admission to the PhD programme.
The same closing dates of 1 March, 1 July and 1 November each year apply.

Victoria Masters Scholarships

These scholarships are for students enrolling in Masters Part 2, by thesis. Applications close on 1 November.
Value $15,000 per year + domestic fees for 1 year.

Victoria Graduate Scholarships

For students enrolling in Honours, Masters Part 1 or a Postgraduate Diploma. Applications close on 1 November each year.
Value: domestic fees up to $5,000 per year for 1 year.

Tu Horomata Scholarships

Targeted Māori scholarships for study at Masters or Honours level, for students with strong academic potential.
Applications close on 1 April each year.
Value: Masters by thesis - a stipend of $12,500 for one year only. Consideration may be given to fund Honours or Masters by coursework programmes to a maximum of $5,000.

Datacom Systems Scholarship

For students completing second year in Computer Science continuing study through to third year.
Application unnecessary. Students will be nominated by the school and chosen on a basis of requirements.

Master of Engineering - 5G Internet of Things Scholarship

For students studying towards a Master's of Engineering looking at the latest 5G wireless access technologies to support massive IoT connectivity.
Value: Domestic fees + $20,000 stipend for one year

Master of Engineering - Scalable Traffic Classification in Internet of Things (IoT) for Network Anomaly Detection

For students studying towards a Master's of Engineering looking at Scalable Traffic Classification in Internet of Things (IoT) for Network Anomaly Detection.

PhD Engineering - industry scholarship with Environmental Science and Research (ESR)

The primary aim of the project will be to implement a data intelligence platform which targets the early prediction of influenza like illness via real time monitoring of internet and social media data.
Value: Fees + $27,500 stipend per year

Academic prizes

A number of prizes are awarded annually to the top performing undergraduate students in the School. There is no applications process for these prizes - the winners are selected by a School committee.
