2018 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition
Are you looking for opportunities to showcase your Chinese? Would you like to share your experiences about learning Chinese? Are you keen to get a scholarship to study in China?
The “Chinese Bridge” Speech Competition (汉语桥) is the most famous international Chinese language competition for non-native speakers, having become a popular reality entertainment show on Chinese TV. It has been organized by the Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters annually since 2008.
We are now calling for entries for the preliminary rounds to select New Zealand representatives in this competition. Participating at the regional and national competitions alone is great experience for all levels of Chinese language students.
The regional competition (for lower half of the North Island - Wellington to Tauranga) will be held on Saturday 26 May 2018 by the Confucius Institute at Kelburn Campus of Victoria University of Wellington. (Candidates living in other parts of the country should check the Auckland and Canterbury Confucius Institute websites.)
The regional competition comprises three categories: Junior Secondary (Year 7-10), Senior Secondary (Year 11-13) and Tertiary.
Winners of the Regional competition in the Secondary categories will advance to the New Zealand National “Chinese Bridge” Competition, to be hosted by the Auckland University Confucius Institute in Auckland on Saturday 4 August 2018.
Winners of the National (Senior Secondary) competition will then represent New Zealand in the International “Chinese Bridge” Competition in China later in 2018.
Winners of the Regional competition in the Tertiary category will advance directly to the international competition in China.
