Each academic year, a number of Mandarin Language Assistants (MLAs) are available to support language programmes in New Zealand schools. The Confucius Institute at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington provides support for placing MLAs at schools in the lower North Island and monitors progress during the school year.
