Careers in Focus events

A range of informal career events are held throughout the year that include graduate panels and networking.

Throughout the year Careers and Employment liaises with academic faculties/departments and the business community to promote discipline/industry-specific events. These events are open to all currently enrolled students.

Students can browse and book into a Careers in Focus event on CareerHub.

Information, not recruitment, is the key purpose of these informal events. Presenters participate on the understanding that they will speak about their personal career path and experiences, answer questions and network with students.

Law Careers in Focus

The Law Careers in Focus events are designed for Law students wanting to find out about the diverse career opportunities that studying Law can lead to. These events are a collaboration with the Victoria University of Wellington Law students society (VUWLSS) and the Faculty of Law.

Law Careers in Focus events for 2024 are as follows:

Law graduates working in the public sector	Wednesday 20th March 2024
Working for small to medium/boutique law firms	Tuesday 7th May 2024
Working as in-house lawyer	Thursday 23 May 2024
Working in criminal law	Thursday 18th July
Mediation, litigation and dispute resolution	Thursday 5th September 2023
Working in family law	Thursday 21 September 2023
