Hannah Hopewell is a qualified landscape architecture, urban designer and academic based in Wellington, New Zealand. She is currently undertaking a practice-based PhD in Spatial Design at AUT University with an investigation that brings the inter-tidal space of waterfront cities into play as a provocation to prevailing forms of urban territoriality. The project develops a disposition that leans towards indeterminacy ‘detecting’ aspects of latency in the urban that evade cultural understanding and are indifferent to familiar critical approaches.

Hannah’s research interests span urban landscape aesthetics, the nonhuman, the generic, and the contemporary condition in the context of what does it mean to intervene, to mediate, to design with the landscape.
