Master of Fine Arts (Creative Practice)—Film

Shu Run Yap interned with Ray Gazley, General Manager at Wrestler, video production company

The internship allowed me to apply my training and skills within the structure of a real company in a practical manner. I was given the chance to work independently on projects and manage my own as well as other people’s time and resources, which has been incredibly valuable to me in building my confidence and competence in the role.

“The experience the intern has received in such a competitive industry sector will be invaluable. On average, Wrestler receives a CV or job application every other day—and experience is one of the top things we are interested in assessing.” —Ray Gazley, General Manager, Wrestler video production company

Master of Fine Arts (Creative Practice)—Music

Caitlin Morris interned with Stephen Gallagher, a composer and music editor currently based at Park Road Post Production

I have learned so much on my internship! The highlight so far was getting the cues Stephen and I composed for a short film signed off by the director. This internship has giving me everything I need to have a future career in music. I now have the skills, tools and confidence to work in this industry.

“Thanks to Caitlin’s assistance, I was able to complete both a documentary and a short film score in a single month. I hope she has taken away some insights into workflow and practice in composing and music editing for media, through her hands on experience working on scoring and editing projects with real world clients and real world deadlines.” —Stephen Gallagher, composer and music editor

Master of Design Technology

Maurizio Vanolo, MDT programme

Having the opportunity to study in this facility in the heart of Wellington’s VFX industry is amazing! I’ve enjoyed being in contact with tutors and mentors coming from key positions in the industry. These people have a huge understanding and an immense experience in VFX. The programme has so far lived far beyond my expectations!
