VUP Fiction
VUP's fiction list features many of New Zealand's foremost writers, including Barbara Anderson, Catherine Chidgey, Damien Wilkins and Elizabeth Knox. VUP has a special mission to discover new writers. As well as Anderson, Chidgey and Knox, VUP published the first books of Kate Duignan and Tim Corballis.
VUP Poetry
VUP also has New Zealand's strongest and most vibrant poetry list, featuring prize-winning poets such Jenny Bornholdt, James Brown, Brian Turner, Dinah Hawken and Stephanie de Montalk, alongside inaugural NZ Poet Laureate Bill Manhire.
VUP History
VUP publishes vital work in NZ History. The History list, particularly social history, is viewed in broad, culturally diverse, and interdisciplinary terms; embracing studies of New Zealand's past and present and how these may shape the future.
Te Reo Maori
Our books on Maori topics include important collections of writings in Maori by major figures such as Hirini Moko Mead and Apirana Ngata; and Dame Joan Metge's widely-read books on contemporary Maori society and cross-cultural communication.
