Victoria IMBA International Accreditation
On this page:
Victoria University's International Masters of Business Administration (IMBA) was awarded international accreditation by the British based Association of MBAs, (AMBA) in 2008.
AMBA is an internationally recognised global standard for all MBA programmes and offers the only professional membership association for more than 9,000 MBA students and graduates, accredited business schools, and MBA employers.
Accreditation of Victoria University’s MBA degree has been extended for a further three years by the international accreditation agency Association of MBAs (AMBA).
The accreditation includes Victoria’s International MBA (IMBA), offered through The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Asia-Pacific Institute of Business (APIB) which has close ties with Victoria, and typically attracts around 40 new participants each year.
International recognition for Victoria's MBA programmes
“The extension of the AMBA accreditation is an affirmation of the ongoing teaching and programme improvements we have made faculty-wide and reflects the international calibre of our MBA and IMBA programmes,” says Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Administration Professor Bob Buckle.
“It also reflects our commitment to delivering the same standards as our domestic MBA in our international programme, so that students can be confident they are receiving an international quality MBA.”
The extensive AMBA process has provided the opportunity to align Victoria’s MBA and IMBA programmes, and develop clear mission statements and strategy for each of them. In addition, the ongoing process has improved the programmes’ web presence; progressed alumni relationships; and established advisory boards that provide important business perspectives.
“Recent initiatives we are especially proud of include the innovative projects we have developed for our MBA students, one of which examined the prospects for sustainability on Matiu/Somes Island.
“We also ran a seminar series that featured presentations in which successful chief executive officers and other prominent leaders shared their business experience.
“Another new initiative was to set up an award that recognises the leadership achievements of alumni of the programme.
“All these measures reinforce the learning and success of our students, not only while they are studying, but afterwards as well.”
AMBA is the only professional membership association for more than 9,000 MBA students and graduates, accredited business schools, and MBA employers in the world.
Acting Director of the MBA programme, Sashi Meanger and Director of the International MBA programme Dr James Richard, say that the fact that Victoria University has maintained the international accreditation is likely to attract more students to the MBA and IMBA programmes, and enable the programmes and graduates to become even more successful.
