Project Leader
I am proud to introduce the Through Our Eyes research team. All the researchers on this project have close ties with the Māori communities and families with whom they are working.
It is an important component of our work at He Pārekereke, that where ever possible, our researchers have tribal or whanau links to the area in which they are conducting their fieldwork.
This means that researchers have dual responsibilities both to honour their cultural obligations to their communities, and to meet academic expectations of excellent scholarship. This can be a difficult path for Māori researchers on occasion, when the expectations of the academy seem to contradict community needs.
He Pārekereke is fortunate to have a team of researchers who, as careful and caring scholars, as well as loyal and committed community members, are able to meet this challenge.
Find out about the researchers.
