Scholarships for school leavers

Applications have now closed for the 2014 Victoria Excellence and Victoria Achiever Scholarships.

Our two main scholarships for school leavers are the Victoria Excellence and Victoria Achiever Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to hundreds of first-year undergraduate students each year. Full regulations are available at the links below.

Victoria Excellence Scholarships are awarded to students who have their NCEA Level 2 Certificate endorsed with Excellence, or equivalent (some conditions apply). In 2014 the majority of these scholarships will be awarded at $5,000. A small number of applicants will receive an additional $5,000 based on academic results.

Victoria Achiever Scholarships aim to encourage students who may otherwise be unable to attend Victoria University. All applicants must have their NCEA Level 2 Certificate endorsed with Merit or equivalent, and be from one or more of the following criteria: be of Māori or Pacific descent; have a disability; can demonstrate financial hardship; was educated at a decile 1–3 school. These scholarships are awarded competitively, by assessing the merits of each individual application. In 2014 the majority of these scholarships will be awarded at $5,000. A small number of applicants will receive an additional $5,000 based on academic results.

Successful applicants for either of these scholarships will also be guaranteed an offer of a place in one of our Halls of Residence, provided an accommodation application is received by 1 October 2013. See Accommodation for more information.

Applicants should be intending to enrol full time in a Bachelor’s degree at Victoria University in 2014. The scholarship money is expected to be put towards tuition fees or Victoria Hall of Residence costs.
