Research
The School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations has an active and collegial research culture.
Our academics and postgraduate students undertake research in a wide variety of areas which benefits and informs our teaching. Research is highly interdisciplinary in terms of the methodologies and theories it employs.
Our staff have published widely and the quality of their research is recognised and respected both nationally and internationally. They are often called on by various organisations, government and the media for their expertise. Our staff research interests pages also contain information on areas of expertise and current projects within the School.
We regularly host visiting academics who contribute to the School's research environment by presenting papers at conferences or programme seminars, giving guest lectures and teaching courses.
We value our postgraduate students and encourage them to be proactive. Postgraduate initiatives have resulted in both the annual History Postgraduate Conference and Philosophy Retreat.
Our staff are closely involved with a number of the University's Research Centres.
