Attend a range of workshops and sessions for study, essay writing and academic tips and get you set up online to help you succeed in your studies.

Study skills workshop*

Attend one of these 45-minute sessions:

  • Tuesday 28 February, 11am, Hunter Lecture Theatre 323
  • Wednesday 1 March, 9.30am and 11.30am, Hunter Lecture Theatre 323.

Essay-writing workshop*

Attend one of these 45-minute sessions:

Smart Start*

Register now to secure a place in Smart Start.

Smart Start is a half-day session to learn about academic skills. This interactive session is designed to build your confidence, help you meet new people and give you a head start with your studies. Topics include:

  • tips for successful study
  • academic expectations
  • essay writing
  • reading
  • note-taking skills.

You'll need to attend the whole session: Thursday 2 March, 9.30am to 1pm, in Maclaurin Lecture Theatre 103, Kelburn campus.

* You can attend either Smart Start or the shorter study skills and essay writing sessions, but not both.

IT Help—student IT session

This 60-minute session shows you how to get set up online—including a general overview of student IT and Blackboard and a practical session in the CyberCommons that will cover how to get set up for email, internet, storing files and printing.

Bring your student ID card or Confirmation of Study so you can log in. All sessions cover the same material.

These sessions will be held in Kirk Lecture Theatre 301:

  • Tuesday 28 February, 9am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2pm
  • Wednesday 1 March, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm
  • Thursday 2 March, 11am and 3pm
  • Friday 3 March, 10am.
