Māori orientation

The Māori orientation programme includes a pōhiri at the marae plus loads of other events to connect you to your whānau on campus.

You’re not alone at Victoria University—your Māori whānau on campus works together te tautoko you through the ups and downs of study.

Programme

This programme will give you opportunities to meet key people, as well as Faculty staff, and offers a range of workshops designed to prepare you for study at Victoria.

Tuesday 28 February

Pōhiri and kai
10am–12 noon, meet at the waharoa outside Te Herenga Waka Marae, 46 Kelburn Parade
Whakawhanaungatanga—get to know who’s who at Victoria
12 noon–3pm, Te Herenga Waka Marae, 46 Kelburn Parade
Battle of the Rohe—daily sport
3–5pm, Recreation Centre

Wednesday 1 March

Breakfast, key speakers and entertainment

Māori students' IT session—get sorted
9.30–10.30am, to be confirmed
Māori students and VUWSA event with a sausage sizzle lunch
