Fruit and vegetable co-op
Join our fruit and vegetable co-op and enjoy fresh and affordable produce delivered to your campus each week.
A fruit and vegetable co-op delivers healthy produce at affordable prices each week to a community. Victoria University's fruit and vegetable co-op launched in March 2017 and is a non-profit social enterprise supported by Wesley Community Action, Regional Public Health and FoodTogether. The co-op makes use of bulk buying power and volunteer labour to package bags of fresh fruit and vegetables. Available for staff and students, it is a great way to bring healthy food into our Victoria community.
What you get
For $12 (paid in advance) you will receive one bag of fruit and one of vegetables, comprising of 6-8 varieties. These bags of fresh, seasonal food represent great value. You can order as many bags as you need, as often as you like.
How to order
Fill out the fruit and vege co-op order form to place your order.
It is a pre-order-and-pay system, order by midday Tuesday and pick-up on Thursday.
Tips on eating healthy, recipes and general health messages will also be available with your fruit and vegetables.
You can collect your fruit and vegetables from one of these three hubs:
- Kelburn campus: Level 2, Student Union Building (12.30–1.30pm)
- Pipitea campus: Mezzanine Floor, Rutherford House. (11am–12pm)
- Te Aro campus: Outside Lecture Theatre Two (12–1pm)
You are welcome to bring your own bags.
If you are unable to pick up during these times, contact the fruit and vege coop coordinator.
Volunteer for the co-op
We’re looking for a team of students and staff to volunteer time and energy to promote healthy eating, nutrition and to support the successful running of the co-op.
Your role will include volunteering at either a packing hub or a distribution hub. You will be able to show off your coordinating and distribution skills, promote health and wellbeing, earn Vic Plus points and participate in a new initiative that will provide you with amazing work experience and look great on your CV.
If you are interested, apply via CareerHub.
The co-op model is a partnership: student and staff volunteers pack and distribute your order and you pay and pick-up your orders at the arranged times. Unfortunately, because the produce is perishable, if you do not collect your bags or arrange for someone else to collect them, the University is unable to store them. Orders are bought in advance so no refunds are available.
If you would like further information, contact the fruit and vege coop coordinator.
