Tramping Club
Are you into tramping, hiking, climbing or keen to get into these outdoor pursuits? VUWTC is the way to explore Aotearoa like you have never seen it before.
We are the second oldest tramping club in New Zealand—we've been doing this since 1921!
Trips for all levels and abilities run every weekend.
We are a super social club that is open to all levels of tramping and outdoor adventures. Whether it’s your first night sleeping in the bush, or you have just summitted Aoraki, we have trips and adventures perfect for your skill level.
As well as tramping, we also have skills training, first aid courses, alpine instruction courses, climbing and bouldering courses, canyoning trips, formal dances and dinners in the wilderness, and eat tacos!
The best way to see what's going on is to come along to our club meetings. We hold every Tuesday at 6pm. Check our Facebook page for posts every week for our meeting location. During holidays we use the Welsh Dragon Pub at the eastern end of Courtney Place. It sits on the island in the middle of Cambridge Tce (used to be public toilets). Then join us afterwards for the infamous Taco Tuesdays!
Annual membership costs $20 for students and $30 for non-students.
With this you get membership to the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ (FMC) and a whole bunch of discounts at various shops, plus use of all club gear and access to club trips.
