New Students

Welcome!

University can seem a bit overwhelming at first. Our New Students’ Orientation programme is a practical way to welcome you to Victoria. It will help you find your bearings, learn some academic preparation skills, understand what Victoria can offer you, meet new people and have some fun—all before you get into serious study.

Attend as many orientation events as you like. Most events are held at Kelburn Campus. Contact the Student Recruitment, Admission and Orientation team if you have any questions.

Essential activities

We recommend that you come along to as many orientation activities as you can, but if you’re looking for a place to start, we consider these the essentials:

Other things to do

As well as attending some of the essential events, there are some other things to find time for when you arrive:

O-Week Festival 2012

O-Week Festival 2012 is an annual festival that provides all students with a fun and diverse start to the year. O-Week Festival 2012 is made up of international and local live music performances, comedy, debates and a hypnotist show, a showcase of all the clubs on offer and other exciting campus-related events. We have included some of the events in the programme, but for the most up-to-date information check out the Salient Orientation Special Edition.

This programme runs from 27 February–9 March.
