Campus Coaches
Want to meet other students in your faculty? Learn more about Victoria and how it works? The Campus Coaches programme sets you up with a senior student who can give you tips for your first few weeks.
The programme helps you to connect and engage with university life and study. The transition to university is an exciting experience and our goal is to make this transition as easy as possible.
What’s involved?
We will put you into a small group with other new students who are studying a similar course to you.
Your coach is a senior student who knows the ropes already and can pass on useful advice. They will arrange group activities, including a campus tour and an introduction to the social places around campus. They’ll also show you the academic and support services available.
For four weeks you’ll meet with your coach and your group. You’ll be able to get answers to your questions, whether they are study-related or just about life at uni.
Who can join?
All new students are welcome to join, and it is particularly useful for students not living in a Hall of Residence.
If you are a transferring or postgraduate student the Campus Coaches programme may not be as useful for you—but all are welcome!
What happens next?
- Your Campus Coach will email you to talk about what will happen at New Students’ Orientation week—27 February to 2 March.
- The Campus Coaches "kick-off" session will be on Monday 27 February. It is at this "kick-off" that you will first meet up with your Campus Coach and your group.
- Your group is likely to meet up again during NSO week—this will be organised at the first session.
- Over the following weeks you will have more opportunities to catch up with your Campus Coach and your group.
- There will be Campus Coaches-wide social events organised.
