'Vic Volunteers' began with 46 volunteers in 1994 to help eliminate some of the barriers students with impairments faced during their study at Victoria University. Since then Vic Volunteers has become a huge success, creating interest from tertiary institutions throughout Australasia.
Today there are 120 Vic Volunteer note-takers, van drivers and team leaders who supplement the efforts of the paid staff of Disability Services, enabling Victoria to provide the most comprehensive service for students with temporary and permanent impairments of any New Zealand university.
