Cultural Issues

Transitions of any kind always present with challenges, these can be both exciting and difficult especially when one is far from ones usual support services. Recently arrived International Students and Migrants to a new country experience a period of adjustment. This period of adjustment can affect students in many different ways. We at the counselling service recognise that there is a difference between cultures and that there can be subtle but powerful values and expectations that might operate for International Students and Migrants that can lead to confusion and a sense of being alone.

The Counselling Service has a group of experienced counsellors to help students face such challenges; we recognize these unique needs of International Students and Migrants.
