Academic/Educational Concerns

The academic year and the variety of tasks required being undertaken as a student at University are demanding whether in your first year of study or heading into your fifth. Students have to learn to manage time and resources and the relationship you have with the institution and its demands. These include structuring time to attend lectures and tutorials, learning and using study skills, choosing the subject areas to study, completing assessment and examinations and managing your relationship with faculty.

There is a time in all academic work where students become discouraged. Learning means taking on new ideas and having to lose some that are old, and this can create uncertainty. Finding motivation to work through this discouragement can take time and also lead to difficulties with your studies such as missed deadlines, failing assessments or examinations and a desire to withdraw.

Counselling can be useful in this time of confusion helping students understand the specific difficulty that is interrupting their academic progress and find workable solutions to it.
