About the Award
What is the Award? The Victoria Plus Award is an extra-curricular programme where you volunteer, engage in service to the University and actively lead in clubs or societies. It is a way of helping your community, networking and personal development. Successful completion of this leadership programme leads to an award certificate and ceremony, and is acknowledged on your academic transcript. Why should I do the Award? While you chose Victoria because the flexible, wide-ranging degrees are world-class, the staff have great reputations and there are excellent facilities, you also need to be aware that when you leave university you need to demonstrate a range of competencies and skills from many areas in life. Get the most out of life at VicGetting involved in volunteering, service and extra curricular activities will ensure you practice your skills and also benefit many people who avail themselves of the support programmes. You may already be contributing to one of the approved activities! Reflect on skills learnt and plan for the futureEmployers look for the VUW attributes listed above plus others such as interpersonal skills, problem-solving and a flexible, adaptable attitude. They look for you to be able to explain how you have developed the skills and to use a variety of examples to prove it.
