The Victoria Plus Award recipients 2012

The Victoria Plus award programme provides a learning framework for students who make a significant contribution to volunteer and student support work within the University and wider Wellington communities.

The Victoria Plus activities have given me the opportunity to further develop my communication, leadership and social skills and the programme has assisted me in understanding more comprehensively what I value in my life and what focus I want in my career.
Rebecca McKeown, BA

My experience in Victoria Plus has ultimately made my life at Victoria University a more memorable one. I was exposed to different things, life and experiences and from these I have gained new friends, experiences, values and skills.
Hansel Ng, BTM; BCA

The Victoria Plus Award exemplifies the opportunities that studying at Victoria University entails. I learned a great deal about serving the community and university outside the academic realm, but more importantly I discovered a personal strength and enjoyed a richer university experience.
Paul Rainier BA (Hons); LLB
I found the reflection part of the award to be very enjoyable, interesting and useful. I have gained a greater understanding of how my experiences have led to the development of particular skills and attributes.
Kerry Charles, MSc

Being a part of the Victoria Plus Award has been a fun and supportive outlet while studying. It has provided me with many interactive, learning opportunities that have allowed me to become a part of the Wellington Community. The various workshops and volunteer activities I have been involved in have taught me many life skills. These are skills which I can take with me when I leave university.
Fenella Fenton, BDI

From Employers:

Students willing to put the time and effort in to gain exposure, knowledge and insight in addition to their university studies are clearly at an advantage when it comes to looking at the next steps in their career.
Pete Robson, Digital Marketing Manager, Z Energy

As a large New Zealand employer that connects communities throughout New Zealand and internationally, it's great to have the opportunity to support a programme such as the Vic Plus Awards. The programme's focus on leadership, social responsibility, and developing workplace relevant skills in participants is strongly aligned to the ethos of New Zealand Post. It has been a positive experience supporting participants in their aspirations to contribute to the wider community and to prepare them for the reality of the workplace, the benefits of which will ultimately flow on to future employers and contacts of programme graduates.
Richard Tremain, Head of Organisational Development, NZ Post
