We are proud that you have chosen to pursue your tertiary education with Victoria University. Your journey with us will be a challenging and exciting one. To help you achieve your full academic potential, we can provide individual learning support with advisers familiar with your home cultures.
Our Pasifika learning advisers provide free and confidential help and advice to students on a one-to-one and small group basis. You will need to make a booking for individual appointments, but won't need to book for any of the workshops or weekly sessions that are provided at SLSS.
Our Pasifika learning advisers can:

assist you in understanding, planning and structuring your essays and assignments

show you new strategies for academic reading, learning and studying

give you advice on English language and grammar

help you plan how to balance the demands of study and life as a Pasifica person

support, encourage and motivate your study experience

help you get in touch with others who can solve non-academic problems which may affect your study.
Pasifika study skills workshops provide on opportunity to develop key university study skills. Student Learning Support runs workshops for Pasifica students in the first few weeks of trimesters 1 and 2 and at other times on request. These workshops are useful at any stage of your study and the sessions provide excellent opportunities for you to ask questions about your study issue/s, develop study skills and meet other students in a friendly and supportive environment.

For lecturers and tutors, we can tailor academic skills development to your students' specific learning environment. You may request customised study skills development sessions for Pasifika and other students' learning in the following areas:
