Congratulations on becoming a university student! The demands of academic work and establishing a social life create challenges. Use these workshops to help you adjust to your new learning environment and become a self-directed learner.

  • Uni Prep – workshops to prepare for university study

  • Smart Start – Learn about academic study and writing before lectures start

  • Individual appointments – discuss your learning needs with a learning adviser at SLSS

  • New Students Orientation – attend orientation sessions on introductory essay writing, introductory study tips and MyVictoria. Join Mature Students Orientation, Campus Coaches, library tours and campus tours.

Coping with academic work

During the first week of your lectures, read your course outline carefully to find out what is expected of you while you are studying. While you are studying at Victoria, you can also work with staff at the Student Learning Support Service to help you achieve your academic potential. Useful academic writing, study, and maths workshops will help you develop your skills for university study. Individual appointments are also available at all levels, from 1st year to postgraduate.
