Profile
Greg joined the HSRC in May 2009, initially to work on a study of interventions for the prevention of obesity. He was previously employed at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, where he completed his doctoral research developing and examining the effectiveness of brief intervention for cannabis use among young people. Greg has been involved in a range of roles in the drug and alcohol field in the past decade, including clinical, policy and research positions. He has conducted clinical trials of brief intervention with young people and amphetamine users.
His research interests include drug and alcohol issues, adolescent development and mental health, brief intervention, motivational interviewing, neuropsychology, psychometrics, the application of technology to health problems, and public health. He is currently involved in a range of projects including evaluation of brief alcohol intervention in the Emergency Department, a telemonitoring project, and analysis of population survey data. Greg reviews for a number of international journals particularly in the areas of cannabis, brief substance use intervention, adolescent treatment, and web-delivered intervention.
