Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Entry into the PhD programme is generally via a successfully completed MCom by thesis (or equivalent) degree though exceptional performance at Honours level may be accepted for direct entry into PhD study. Applicants are expected to have the required background in research theory and methods. The PhD programme requires three years of full-time study in which students are required to complete a research thesis under the supervision of a senior academic with relevant research interests.  At the discretion of the School Research Committee, PhD candidates may also be required to take some taught courses.  Part-time study for a PhD may be offered in some circumstances.

Information and guide on 'how to apply for a PhD' from Victoria University can be found on the Faculty of Graduate Research website.

Prospective students should acquaint themselves with staff's research expertise and the School's research activity.
