Distance course structure

The School of Marketing and International Business' distance courses offer the following learning techniques:

  • Short video lectures you can view as many times as you wish
  • Video case studies to expand your knowledge
  • Interactive exercises to reinforce your learning
  • Tutors and a lecturer who check discussion boards daily Monday to Friday during term time.

The assessment is similar to the on campus courses including sitting an examination. It is possible to sit the examination away from Wellington but you will have to pay some costs in doing so. To discuss, please email the Examination Co-ordinator.

Who can take a distance course?

These courses are offered to people who are unable to take the on campus courses due to work, childcare responsibilities, timetable clashes, or because they are living outside of Wellington.

Entrance to university is required to enroll in these courses -  find out more about admission and enrolment

Quotes from previous students

"All the staff were great. The feedback in the discussion boards was always excellent and it was also really helpful to be able to view other students Qs & As.".
(Marketing Management student)

"It was fantastic; it allowed me to continue to study and gain knowledge in an area that has always interested me while working full time. It really was the best of both worlds - developing theory with real world experience."
