- acceptance by the MIM Programme Director following an interview with a three person panel
Domestic Applications
Note: late enrolments from domestic students are considered until Friday 10 February, but will incur additional fees.
Applications should be made online through the VUW Online Enrolment System for the Certificate (PGCertIM), Diploma (PGDipIM) or or Masters (MIM) programmes. Here you are asked to submit a statement identifying your career accomplishments to date, and how you anticipate that a qualification from the Information Management Programme will assist you to meet your ambitions over the next five to 10 years. You are also asked to submit a current CV.
If you are a new student to Victoria University of Wellington you will also need to provide certified evidence of identify, citizenship and undergraduate qualifications. Applications will be assessed, and candidates will be contacted for an interview with a three person panel that includes the Programme Director.
Note: Applicants without an undergraduate degree but with an undergraduate diploma (or equivalent) and a significant career history can be assessed for entry into the Master of Information Management (MIM) programme with the approval of the Faculty of Commerce and Administration.
International Applications (for a Trimester 1 start in 2012)
International students should submit a formal application directly to Victoria International, ensuring a statement identifying your career accomplishments to date and a copy of your Curriculum Vitae (clearly detailing all work experience) are attached.
Once formal applications have been received and forwarded by Victoria International they will be assessed and candidates will be contacted for a telephone interview with a panel that includes the Programme Director. Successful candidates will then be advised on the appropriate Victoria University enrolment process.
Please note that as you are applying internationally you need to comply with Victoria International Admission Criteria for final acceptance into the programme. You will need to present certified/original copies of your latest IELTS result and academic qualifications for enrolment. See the complete guide on how to apply to Victoria University as an international student, where you can download the International Student Application Form. If you have any questions about the process you can email victoria-international@vuw.ac.nz.

Teaching Delivery and Methods
MIM courses are delivered in the evening to meet the needs of professional people. Students will enjoy sharing the knowledge and work experience of others in the programme. Courses use a variety of teaching techniques:
- lectures
- tutorials
- small group discussion
- individual research
- group assignments
- case discussion
- use of audio-visual and computer-based learning materials
The MIM programme is strongly experience-based. Concepts are explored in the context of real managerial situations, with case studies and examples used liberally.
Programme Structure
Studies usually begin the first trimester, in February, but students can begin in any of three trimesters during the year. Each course involves a workload of approximately 10-12 hours per week.
You can see an overview of the MIM Programme Structure here, and the current timetable details here.
Facilities and Resources
MIM programme participants have full access to the entire range of Victoria facilities, including the extensive library facilities, computer facilities, networks, and support organisations. The library's distance service, and the Victoria web portal, ensure that students off campus can enjoy access to the University's wide range of resources.
