Undergraduate Study

Our philosophy is to provide students with knowledge and skills in the effective and efficient design, delivery and use of information systems, together with an awareness of the continuing developments in the field of information technology and electronic commerce, and their impact on organisations and society.

Your learning experience will include lectures, workshops, tutorials, and online resources. There is help from our tutors, who will work with you in smaller and more informal groups, giving you the best possible support to achieve your academic goals. The key to your success is in the mix of theory, research and practical experience in our programmes.

As a student at SIM, you will enjoy invitations to industry technical talks and presentations, so that you are totally in touch with developments in the real world. On some courses you have the opportunity to actually work in industry.

We have also established initiatives that aim to provide special opportunities for you to develop your talents, including unique initiatives such as:

  •  Undergraduate Research Development Programme, where you will work alongside top academic researchers.
  •  Discovery Camp, an intensive two day workshop for new researchers.

These programmes are additional to the normal curriculum and involve working more closely with SIM staff or gaining industry experience.

Discovery Camp 2010

Discovery Camp is an invitation-only event for our top performing 2nd and 3rd year BCA students, aimed at giving an introduction to the research experience and guidance through a research project from a member of the School's academic staff.
