Tiong's research is mainly focused on applied research, looking at how technologies can be applied to society, and he is keen to supervise projects that contain elements of social media, emotion computing, classification, learning science and user's behaviour. He is on the Advisory Board of the Journal of Educational Technology & Society (JETS) and the International Editorial Review Board for the International Journal of Mobile and Blended Learning (IJMBL), International Journal of Mobile Human Interaction (IJMHI), International Journal of E-adoption (IJEA) and Journal of Information Technology Education (JITE).

Tiong is also the editor of Multiplatform e-learning systems and technologies: Mobile devices for ubiquitous ICT-based education (2009).

Qualifications

BSc & MSc (Electrical Engineering), Ohio; GDipFM, Singapore; MBA (Distinction), Manchester & Wales; PhD (Information Systems), Massey

Current Research

Tiong has recently completed research for Ako Aotearoa on 'Persuasive and Affective SMS Text Messaging for Students' Learning'. This report presents the outcome of an experimental design to investigate the impact of persuasive and affective SMS on students' self-regulated learning strategies while attending an information systems course.

Information on his other research, including 'i-emo Visualisation and Interaction with Emotion in Social Network' & 'Peer-to-Peer Collaborative Learning with E-book Devices' is available from Dr Goh's personal homepage.
