Dr Janet Toland

Introduction

Janet teaches in the area of end user computing and information systems management. Originally from the UK, Janet started off her career as a Computer Programmer for British Steel, and after completing a Masters degree moved on to work as a Project Leader for Greater London Council. She has lectured at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, and Sheffield Hallam University, both in the UK. She has also worked as a Lecturer at Tonota College of Education, Botswana, and at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.

Current Research

Janet completed her PhD looking at the role Information and Communications technologies play in regional development in New Zealand. Her research interests include the history of ICT, Green information systems, the use of ICT in developing countries, and the role played by computer mediated communication in tertiary education.
