Introduction
Flavio is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Database Research at SIM. He worked in the general area of database theory and finite model theory, specialising in expressibility of formal languages as query languages for databases, while working on his PhD at Massey. Before joining Victoria, Flavio was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Yahoo! Research Latin America in Chile, where he broadened his research interests working in the area of information retrieval and semantic web. Before starting his academic career Flavio worked for twelve years in industry, gaining professional experience as software developer, systems administrator, DBA, and project manager, working for a city council in Argentina.
