MDIA-404 – Television Industries and Forms: The Case of Drama

This course relates changes in television's political economy to innovations in fictional programming, exploring 'post-broadcast' institutional paradigms, primetime forms, aesthetics, and narrative approaches. Lectures examine American, British and New Zealand industries and the following forms: hour-long drama series and serial, authored short-form drama, sitcom, docudrama, and comedy verite. 100% internal assessment.
