Safety
In a laboratory, your safety and the safety of those around you is paramount. For this reason, safety regulations are in place and must be followed in all labs, at all times. Generally, a lab coat, approved safety glasses and covered shoes must be worn. Lab coats and glasses are supplied. You will be advised how to appropriately handle the chemicals you will use in the labs.
You should make yourself familiar with the safety features of each laboratory you work in: look out for the first-aid boxes, emergency showers, fire extinguishers and the procedures for evacuating the laboratory.
Staff and students are requested to inform the Safety Officers of potential hazards, such as faulty equipment, spilt chemicals and electrical faults etc.
