Graduate Diploma in Science

Victoria’s Graduate Diploma in Science (GradDipSc) is a flexible one-year full-time (or up to four years part-time) qualification designed for science graduates who want to move into a new area of specialisation, and for graduates in other disciplines who want to gain a graduate science qualification. It is designed to suit your new career direction, your past academic experience and your learning needs as well as allowing you to pursue a further research-based qualification after completion of the Diploma. It is particularly suitable for international students wishing to enrol in a transition programme to enable entry to Masters degrees.

What are the entry requirements

Any first degree will allow entry into the Graduate Diploma in Science. For some subjects there are 100-level prerequisite courses required before enrolment in the Diploma.

How to structure your programme

The courses selected must be science courses totalling at least 116 points from 200-500 level; of these, a minimum of 72 points must be above 200 level.

See the graduate and undergraduate prospectuses for the appropriate School or subject area for details of courses offered. You will need to check what prerequisites are required for each course.

If you wish, your course of study can follow a specialisation programme within an area of science, as set out below.

To put together a programme, talk to the Programme Director of the subject area you wish to study in. You will also need the approval of the Associate Dean (Students) for your programme of study.
