Responsibilities as Pro Vice Chancellor
David has management responsibility for all Schools in the Faculties of Science, Engineering and Architecture and Design.
He provides guidance to the Heads of Schools, ensuring they have maximum support and appropriate resources.
David participates in strategy development and implementation activities for the university as part of the Senior Management Team.
Responsibilities as Dean of Science
David is responsible for administering all undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diploma and certificate programmes. He also promotes the Faculty programmes and policies at the Academic Board.
Background
David is a graduate of the University of Loughborough from which he also received a PhD in 1970 and a DSc in 1995.
He enjoyed a significant career in the DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research) where he became a Group Manager in DSIR Chemistry Division, followed by a General Manager at Industrial Research Ltd.
He has served on a number of government advisory panels, including the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Taskforce.
David is a member of the management and advisory boards of various research centres and institutes, including the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, the Antarctic Research Center, the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research and Victoria Link Ltd.
Prof Bibby joined Victoria University in April 2003 following long-term research and teaching collaborations with its staff and students.
